Around 140–250 million years ago, a flower, that may have been the common ancestor of all flowering plants alive today, bloomed for the first time. Scientists have reconstructed what it may have looked like from the molecular data of 792 modern angiosperms: a delicate, radially symmetrical flower with rings of petal-like structures.
This piece is inspired and reimagined from the original flower.
