Folk Affinity is a creative practice built slowly over the years. Each piece is created and finished in my home studio in Singapore. No AI is involved, only imagination, tools and two hands, just the way people have been making things since the beginning of time.

THE WORLD BEHIND THE PIECES

This is a little window into the world of Folk Affinity, where you can explore the materials, places and processes.

METALS

We only work with 925 sterling silver and 9kt, 14kt and 18kt gold. 
Everything is solid metal, no plating ever.

FROM WAX TO FORM

Every piece begins as jeweller’s wax, 
I carve and shape it by hand, creating the form of the piece. Sometimes it takes a different path as the wax reveals new angles.

The finished wax is then sent to a casting facility, where it is transformed into metal. This is the only part of the process that happens outside my studio.

When it returns, it is raw and unfinished, a little rough around the edges. I then solder, file and polish the metal to bring out the final form.

GEMSTONES

I travel frequently for work to places like Hong Kong, Bangkok, Jaipur and Taiwan, which lets me meet suppliers directly and pick up stones without unnecessary middleman markups.

I believe every stone is beautiful. Inclusions, colour variations and carvings are what give a stone its character, and Folk Affinity celebrates that. 
I work with a variety of precious and semi-precious stones.

SOURCING & MAKING

Building Folk Affinity has been as much about collecting knowledge as materials.

I trained in metalsmithing at my local jewellery school, and the process keeps evolving with new techniques and ideas finding their way into the studio's space with time~
